The last two weeks have been filled with fun, fun, fun. The long-awaited Fireman Bob came with his yellow fire truck. The kids got to check out some fire equipment like hoses and sit in the driver seat of the truck and ring the bell! We ended our community helpers unit with the kids telling us what they might want to be when they grow up.
This week we started to explore apples and pumpkins. We learned that there are usually 3 different colors of apples. Next week, we will be tasting the difference between the 3 and choosing which kind we like the best. We will also talk about what is inside of an apple. Earlier this week we made our own little apple trees and “hung” apples on them, then counted how many we put on. To start talking about pumpkins, we cut our class pumpkin open to see what was inside!!! It was so much fun!!! We described the outside of a pumpkin as orange, round, and having a stem. The inside was a lot different. We used words like, slimy, sticky, wet and slippery. Many of the kids had no hesitation to get their hands in the pumpkin and help clean it out!! Next week we will be busy painting our own pumpkins, making a jack-o-lantern face, and more!
Don’t forget we are trick-or-treating at the school next Thursday, October 28!
